Weekend Getaway: Day 1 - CEBU CITY

Updated: Nov 7, 2021

What a good way to relax after an exhausting week of academics and school stuffs. In this blog, I will be showing you how we spent our first day in the city. Enjoy reading!

Welcome readers! I want to share with all of you in this blog post about our travel in the Queen City of the South— Cebu. This is a quick trip since we travelled on weekends and oh, btw, I am with my mom's workmates.

Ocean Park

"Young and old, we want to see the spark of child-like wonder in your eyes when you see something captivating for the first time. We want to touch your lives, and that includes our animal friends! We want to be the center of your experience to touch a starfish for the first time, to feel the excitement of a first date, to celebrate all your milestones, to forge bonds with your colleagues, or to simple just spend some quality time with your loved ones. Let's all embrace the kid inside us as we discover how nature holds the greatest magic of all."

It is currently the largest ocean park in the Philippines, tripling the size of the Manila Ocean Park. They aim to provide both their visitors and community a unique marine-life experience to achieve their dream to educate, conserve and inspire.

Magellan's Cross

This has been one of the traditional places to visit in Cebu because of its rich historical relevance. It has been claimed that the cross was indeed first planted in this spot, and this eventually led to the Spanish-era of the Philippines. Also, this I believe marked the start of Christianity here in our country.

Magellan’s Cross address is very easy to find as it is just a walking distance from the Basilica Minor del Santo Niño located in P. Burgos St, Cebu City.

Basilica Minor del Santo Niño

"Mother and Head of all Churches in the Philippines."

Cebu is home to many beautiful natural wonders but another thing that a lot of people often overlook are its beautiful churches.

Basilica del Santo Niño is a church that was built centuries ago, and it is equally as important and fascinating as the Magellan's Cross. Unfortunately, during our visit, the Magellan's Cross area and the church was undergoing a renovation; hence, we couldn't see their full beauty.

I can't believe I did touch down in this church. With all the eye popping scenery, the holiness of the place and presence of spiritual beliefs. It did made me nearly to explode because of happiness. Imagine I'm from Manila and in one swift I got to visit Cebu! It's really good to be true.

SM City Seaside

"Currently the third largest shopping mall in the Philippines and eleventh in the world."

Its interiors are awesomely designed as shown through its colorful spiral stairways, high-speed glass elevators, and higher vertical clearances for more depth of space. We surely had fun, eradicating that feeling of getting cramped up into claustrophobia-inducing areas as we shop.

After a tiring hours of wandering around the mall, we got tired and decided to grab some snacks. We are in bliss as we hold on tight for that savory-packed food trip! We all know we can't resist yummy cuisine and refreshing drinks, aye! And so we dined at the food haven (food court).

Stay tuned for our day two of travel. You guys want to see chocolates? But in the form of hills! Our next destination will be Bohol City.
